ROOKIE SETS ALTERNATION
To add more international players, we’re creating a set of fictional players based on real hockey players from leagues in Europe and AHL.
Since OHC is a 2 seasons per year league, we are alternating between NHL & Euro rookie classes.
- In the NHL rookie season, the international set is smaller – addon.
- In the non-NHL rookie season, all the rookies are created.
This may lead to some seasons having a deeper draft class for the US & CAN players and some for the Euro nations.
It is advised to the GMs to adjust their tactics accordingly.
PLAYERS LOTTERY
For added fun & transparency, a “draft class lottery” has been created, where the commissioner draws the parameters of the newly created players, mainly the nationality & PO. The draw is done using a random generator and results are posted in a PM thread.
To ensure that each team holding a high draft pick can have a quality player of his nationality available, the following rules have been established:
- Group 1: top 8 draft picks – random PO86-90 (NHL players can be 90+)
- Group 2: middle 8 draft picks – random PO83-86
- Group 3: low 8 draft picks – random PO80-83
- Group 4: cheap depth players – random PO76-80
- Nationality of the players according to the draft picks holders + 2 lucky nations for each group
Note: the NHL rookie class is always more random, as most of the top NHL players are drafted as prospects.
- The top 10 NHL prospects are treated as PO86-90 players
- The top 11-32 NHL prospects are treated as PO80-86 players
ROOKIE SETS CREATION
The Euro player sets are created manually by the commissioner.
- Ideally, the draft class lottery should happen after the regular season end.
- The rookies are then created based on the real Euro players and their EliteProspects stats.
- Sometimes the commissioner may be too busy to create the set so the post-season may take longer as we wait.
