CUSTOM PLAYER SET OF NHL PLAYERS + TOP EURO PLAYERS
The main theme of the league is that each team represents their nation fighting for the Olympic cup.
Like in most of the European leagues, the number of foreigners in each club is limited. Big hockey nations (CAN, USA, RUS, SWE, FIN, CZE) have more OHC clubs, and the smaller hockey nations have only 1 team. To help the smallest nations stay competitive, some players are eligible for double nationality. For example, French-Canadian can be CAN/FRA, or US players of Italian descent can be USA/ITA.
THE DIVISIONS & PROMOTION/RELEGATION:
Each division has its own foreigner limit quota, meaning the rest of the pro squad needs to be filled with local nationals.
- Elite division: max 6 foreigners
- Premier division: max 7 foreigners
- National division: max 9 foreigners
- United division: max 10 foreigners
After each season, the winners of the divisions get promoted and the last-placed teams get relegated.
TEAM NAMES & LOGOS:
The teams represent their city, region & nation. Most of them are traditional names of the nation’s greatest clubs or the nicknames of their national team. The logos have a unified design so that the overall graphic of the league matches. Some logo & name changes are allowed but have to be approved by the commissioner & the trade committee first.
WILD CARD HOUSE RULE:
To help GMs to keep enough local star players, each team gets one Wild card in the post-season which can be used for one of the options:
- Protect a local player at the draft (no foreign team can draft him)
- Naturalize a foreign player to become double national (eligible only after playing a couple of seasons in his new country)
- Fix attributes of one young player (eligible if this player has much better real-evo NHL attributes)
- Re-sign a local T3 hero (avoiding the UFA market)
- Get a 25% salary discount on one local player
